More than 50 companies took part in the mission organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Embassy in Warsaw, in partnership with ANCE, the foreign trade agency ICE and the Ministry of Economic Development, MISE, in association of OICE, the Association of Engineering, Architecture and Technical and Economic Consulting Firms.
The aim of the mission, which is part of the Foreign Ministry’s integrated Country promotion strategy and of the activities of its diplomatic and consular network, was to consolidate the presence of Italian companies in Poland’s construction sector, and to facilitate the introduction of new companies therein. The mission was aimed at promoting Brand Italy and included the public and private financial institutions that support Italian companies as well as the Polish banks that are partly owned by major Italian credit institutions. It also enabled participants to take stock of Poland’s projects in the sectors of transport, the environment, hospitals and eco-sustainable housing, many of which particularly interested the SMEs that participated in the mission with a numerous and qualified representation.
Poland is one of Europe’s largest markets for the Italian construction industry, with contracts worth over 2 billion euros, especially in the construction of road, rail and metro infrastructure and real estate projects. Moreover, Poland is the beneficiary of European funds from the European Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-20, whose provisions earmarked for infrastructure and the environment amount to more than 30 billion euros.
The mission to Warsaw was organised in consideration of the Foreign Ministry’s renewed commitment to support Italian construction companies in the largest Central and Eastern European markets (Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia), which will comprehensively receive more than 100 billion euros for the infrastructure sector from the European Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-20.
