Italy has approved the granting of a three million euro emergency contribution to Palestine to support and strengthen basic services in favour of the most vulnerable sections of the population. The intervention follows in the footsteps of Italian Cooperation’s emergency aid. The initiative will focus on AREA C, Eastern Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. In particular, the goal is to guarantee decent living conditions for the displaced and refugees, including those who are at risk of being forcefully transferred. Activities planned will concern emergency housing, measures to help people live through the winter, better access to drinking water, road and energy system rehabilitation, and the distribution of water for farming. The numerous organisations of Italian civil society operating in the target areas will be entrusted with the carrying out of these activities. These organizations have been operating for a long time in the area, meeting local needs by guaranteeing protection and assistance to thousands of people in need.
