Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Vincenzo Amendola, on mission in Brazil and Argentina

Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Vincenzo Amendola, started off his mission in Brazil and Argentina today.

Mr Amendola’s mission began in Sao Paulo, where the Italian community has recently crossed the threshold of 200,000 people, where he visited two schools “Eugenio Montale” and “Dante Alighieri”: models of excellence in the Brazilian schooling system which offer a syllabus acquainting Brazilian students with Italian culture.

The Italian undersecretary later met with the representatives of the large Italian business community who made positive comments on the business opportunities offered to Italian companies on the Brazilian market.

In the afternoon, Undersecretary Amendola presided a meeting to coordinate the promotion of Brand Italy in Brazil, taking stock of the organisation of the Italian institutional and consular network in Brazil to better coordinate the provision of services offered to Italian citizens and companies.

Undersecretary Amendola said: “In a Country with the dimension of a continent like Brazil networking our economic system must become a consolidated working model. Our diplomatic network intends to become a full-fledged antenna used to direct investments, carry out promotion activities and offer high-quality services to Italian citizens and companies. Only by creating synergies at several levels will it be possible to achieve tangible results.” The meeting also offered the opportunity to evaluate the effects of the law that recognises Italian citizenship.

In the evening, Mr Amendola met several members of the Italian community living in Sao Paulo.
