Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Benedetto Della Vedova and the Canadian Ambassador to Italy have signed a framework Agreement on reciprocal recognition for the conversion of drivers’ licenses

The Framework Agreement on Reciprocal Recognition for the Conversion of Drivers’ Licences was signed yesterday at the Farnesina by the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Benedetto Della Vedova, and the Canadian Ambassador to Italy, Peter McGovern.
“It is a framework agreement between two different systems – the Canadian federal system and the Italian system- which is indispensable to enter specific understandings with Canadian Provinces and territories, which hold exclusive jurisdiction over the matter,” said Undersecretary of State Della Vedova. He also added that “the agreement is a major and very much awaited step forward. Once the understandings with the Canadian Provinces are formalized, our numerous Italian citizens living in Canada will finally be able to convert their Italian licences. In a reciprocal move, Canadian citizens residing in Italy will have their licences converted.”
