The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mario Giro, began his mission to Canada yesterday, 29 May 2015. He will be visiting Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal and taking part in the celebrations there for the Festa della Repubblica (Italian National Day) on 2 June.
On his arrival in Toronto Giro took part a working meeting on the promotion of the Italian language organised by Consul General Pastorelli. He also expressed his satisfaction at being able to attend not one but 3 Italian National Day celebrations, where he will meet representatives of Canada’s sizeable Italian community and members of the Canadian Federal Government, as well as members of the regional governments of Ontario and Quebec. Institutional meetings with Federal Government authorities are also planned. Before leaving Rome, Under-Secretary Giro received the Prime Minister of Quebec, Couillard.
