Alfano: “We must be deeply grateful to all the Italians who contribute to keeping up the banner of being Italian abroad. To them we intend to dedicate growing resources to assure them ever-more timely and appropriate services”

On the anniversary of the tragedy of Mattmark, in Switzerland, where 56 Italian workers died buried under an avalanche of ice and stones, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, reaffirmed his strong message of sympathy to fellow Italians who show the strength and worth of our Country through their professional commitment everywhere around the world. Minister Alfano said: “We must be deeply grateful to all the Italians who, in Switzerland as well as in many other Countries, every day contribute to keeping up the banner of being Italian. To them we intend to dedicate growing resources to assure them ever-more timely and appropriate services by the network of consulates; we want to enhance the assistance provided to them also in the most difficult emergency situations such as, for example, in the dramatic events that recently hit Barcelona. I intend to give priority to these actions in favour of the Italians involved in serious crises, such as the one in Venezuela, or those who find themselves in a period of particular uncertainty, as in the United Kingdom.”
