On the sidelines of the Med Dialogues Conference in Rome, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, had a multifarious and positive conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Adel Al Jubeir. The topics on the agenda, in addition to a careful analysis of the state of the two Countries’ bilateral relations, also included the major dossiers on the Mediterranean – Libya and Syria – and Yemen.

“Italian companies can contribute to achieving the economic objectives that the Saudi Government set out in its Vision 2030 plan. They can provide technology, expertise and know-how in strategic sectors like those of infrastructure, energy, health and ICT,” Minister Alfano told his interlocutor. “Our companies are already solidly established in Saudi Arabia but there is still a large potential to tap in our commercial and industrial relations.”

Turning to the most troubled areas of the Mediterranean and of the Gulf, Italy’s chief diplomat underscored that Saudi Arabia can make an important contribution to solving regional crises, also in the light of its role of leadership in the Muslim world.
