“Our bilateral relations are excellent: the frequency of our meetings testifies to the dynamism and promising potential of our partnership,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, on commenting the meeting he had at the Farnesina with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Elmar Mammadyarov.
He continued: “Our economic and commercial partnership is grounded on solid bases in different sectors, the most important of which is energy. Italian companies are reliable suppliers of Azerbaijan and actively contribute to the Country’s economic and technological development.” Minister Alfano went on to emphasise that the Southern Gas Corridor is “a noteworthy example of regional cooperation that contributes to the growth, stability and prosperity of all the actors involved.”
Turning to regional issues, Minister Alfano recalled that the Italian Chairmanship of the OSCE is committed to “promoting the achievement of a political and diplomatic solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis, in line with the principles of international law and with the Helsinki Final Act, by supporting the efforts of the co-Chairmanships of the Minsk Group in the pursuit of a peaceful and lasting solution.”
