Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Vincenzo Amendola, took part in the workshop entitled “What future for Syria?” to discuss the latest developments in the conflict and in preparation of the upcoming Mediterranean Dialogues. The Dialogues will take place in Rome in November, 2018 for the fourth year in a row. The workshop, which was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in conjunction with ISPI and the German Marshal Fund, was held in Brussels on 24 April. In the afternoon of the same day, Amendola also attended the works of the second Ministerial Conference entitled “Supporting the future of Syria and the Region”.Through the two-day Ministerial Conference, the European Union intended to give momentum and coordination to the Syrian political aspect, while keeping the level of donors’ attention high, both with regards to humanitarian response (in Syria) and the resilience of host communities in bordering countries.Institutional, and civil society representatives and over 100 NGOs attended the first day of the Conference. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, participated in the second day of the Ministerial Conference.
