Undersecretary Di Stefano on a diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan​

The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,Manlio Di Stefano, went on a visit to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

In Tashkent, the Undersecretary met with the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Kamilov, and in Dushanbe, the Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, Muhriddin. With both ministers, the Undersecretary talked about strengthening bilateral relations and the major international dossiers (the situation in Afghanistan, the current state and development perspectives in the Central Asian region).

In his other meetings, the Undersecretary explored the economic and commercial cooperation options, with a special focus on the agri-food and textile sectors, infrastructure and renewable energy. In Uzbekistan, the Undersecretary presided over the signing of two important contracts by Italy’s Danieli with two Uzbekistani companies, which was followed by an informal meeting with Italian entrepreneurs and managers who operate in the Country. The Undersecretary’s diplomatic mission ended in Tajikistan, where he attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the first turbine of the Rogun Dam hydroelectric power station, the building of which was partly done by Italy’s Salini construction company.
