The Foreign Ministry protects refugees through a 2.5-million-euro financing to the WFP

In consideration of the situation in Libya, the Foreign Ministry has arranged a 1-million-euro financing to the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide emergency assistance to approximately 30,000 migrants through the supply of food or economic aid. “The complicated situation in Libya requires a fast and effective humanitarian response: this is how we boost our already intense engagement on the ground,” said Luigi Maria Vignali, the Director General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies.

Cooperation between the Foreign Ministry and the World Food Programme will be further boosted thanks to another 1.5-million-euro project to finance the assisted voluntary return of Somalian refugees from Kenya to Somalia over the next 18 months through the supply of food aid.
