The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has earmarked 2 million euros from its Africa Fund in favor of the World Food Program (WFP) in Chad, to support the economic self-sufficiency of about 30,000 Sudanese refugees, creating local job opportunities in the agricultural sector that constitute alternatives to migration.
A further contribution of € 1 million from the Africa Fund was also approved in favor of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Tunisia, to provide healthcare for vulnerable women, both Tunisians and migrants, with special attention to the victims of violence. Within the framework of the Italian strategy to support local authorities in the management of migrants and refugees, this initiative will help provide essential healthcare services, upgrade 10 shelters for women, and maintain mobile clinics in support of healthcare centers.
