Merlo in Montevideo for the Inauguration Ceremony of President Lacalle Pou

On Sunday 1 March, Undersecretary Ricardo Merlo, delegated by the President of the Republic, will represent Italy at the inauguration ceremony of the new President of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou. The following day, Undersecretary Merlo will meet the Foreign Minister of Uruguay and then visit the Italian school.

“Bilateral relations between Italy and Uruguay – says Merlo – have always been very close, also because in the South American country there are more than 130,000 compatriots who continue to keep the flag of Italy high and through clubs and associations they spread our culture and keep our traditions alive”.

“Also for this reason – concludes Merlo – I wanted to include the visit to the Italian school in Montevideo as part of my mission in Uruguay: to be able to demonstrate, even so, with the presence, closeness and support of the Italian government to those projects and realities that, everywhere in the world, promote and spread our culture and language, our greatest wealth”.
