This morning, in Moscow, Undersecretary Ivan Scalfarotto met the Russian Deputy Minister for Economic Development Maksimov. After recalling the excellent bilateral partnership between the two Countries, recently confirmed by the meeting between Minister Di Maio and Ministers Lavrov (Foreign Affairs) and Manturov (Industry), the talks focused on the economic and trade relations and their outlook. “We are aware of the impact the sanctions are having on our economy and we are engaged in raising awareness among our EU partners about their repercussions, which should be looked into,” assured Mr. Scalfarotto. One of the key talking points was the new Russian legislation on the sale of wine, to protect our wine growers.
This was followed by a meeting with the President of the Skolkovo Foundation, Arkady Dvorkovich, with which Italy’s ICE Agency has entered into a cooperation agreement for ensuring a preferential treatment for Italian businesses looking to establish themselves in the Skolkovo Innovation Centre. Undersecretary Scalfarotto emphasised how innovation is a key issue for the Italian Government, which is treating technological development as one of its key priorities, agreeing on the importance of strengthening collaboration between the best Italian and Russian technology companies.
