Italy helps Albania during Covid-19 emergency: today a team of seven doctors and nurses left for Tirana; together with them, a cargo of 500,000 surgical masks took off. A gesture of closeness towards a friendly and allied country that has been at our side during the most acute phase of the pandemic in Italy by sending Albanian medical personnel.
At the instigation of the Foreign Ministry and with the coordination of the Civil Protection Department, seven units of health personnel from the Regions of Lombardy, Piedmont, Lazio and Apulia arrived in the Albanian capital, on board a plane made available by the Guardia di Finanza. The aircraft also carried a stock of surgical masks offered by the Special Commissioner for Covid-19 Emergency, Domenico Arcuri.
The team, welcomed on arrival by the Albanian Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu and Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci, will carry out consultancy and assistance activities, as well as training on specific health aspects of diagnosis and how to counter Covid.
As pointed out by Minister Di Maio, international cooperation is crucial to defeat corona virus and the collaboration between Italy and Albania is a successful model that further strengthens the strategic partnership between our countries.
