The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, received the President of the Tobruk Chamber of Representatives, Aghila Saleh today at the Farnesina Palace.
The meeting was an opportunity to confirm Italy’s commitment – within the framework of the Berlin Process – to the ceasefire, to create an inclusive intra-Libyan dialogue and to find political solution to the crisis. Aghila Saleh can give a significant contribution to reach such objectives.
In particular, the question of the possible unblocking of oil production was addressed during the talks. In this regard, Minister Di Maio stressed that the immediate resumption of the exploitation of Libyan natural resources would have a positive impact not only on the country’s economy and the welfare of Libyans but also on the prospects for negotiations in the political and security field.
