Today Minister Luigi Di Maio is taking part in the first day of the G7 Foreign and Development Ministers Meeting in London, with his counterparts from Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union.
The day’s proceedings will first focus on China and Myanmar, followed by Minister Di Maio’s introduction on the issues regarding Libya and Syria. The Meeting will then address the humanitarian crisis in Ethiopia, as well as the fight against terrorism in Somalia and in the Sahel, particularly in Chad and Mali, followed by the Western Balkans, a strategic region for European security, as well as Russia and the Navalny case, and the situation in Belarus and Ukraine. There will also be a debate on Afghanistan, before addressing the Indo-Pacific region.
Minister Di Maio’s programme also includes several bilateral meetings, including with the UK Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab.
