Foreign Ministry Note – Vaccine supplies to Tunisia

In consideration of the ongoing pandemic emergency that is hitting Tunisia particularly hard, Italy is determined to continue to provide concrete and immediate support to the Tunisian people in the fight against COVID-19. After sending five containers of medical supplies and donations for the purchase of oxygen generators for Tunisian hospitals, following a specific request from the Tunisian Government and an agreement between the respective Health Ministries, a supply of AstraZeneca vaccines will arrive in Tunis tonight, made available by the Structure of the Extraordinary Commissioner Gen. Figliuolo. Italy thus wishes to demonstrate concrete solidarity and closeness to a neighbouring and long-standing friend, in the context of the commitment – announced by Prime Minister Draghi at the Global Health Summit on 21 May – to supply 15 million vaccine doses to low-income countries by the end of 2021.
