Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi di Maio, participated in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting convened by video conference to discuss the latest developments in Ukraine. The meeting, which was also attended by the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, reaffirmed the unacceptability of the Russian aggression – in patent violation of international law – and the firm condemnation of Russia’s military operations, which are having dramatic consequences on the civilian population of Ukraine.
Minister Di Maio reaffirmed Italy’s full support for the sanctioning measures recently passed within the EU and also for further individual and sector-specific sanctions (especially in the banking and financial sectors). The Italian Foreign Minister also confirmed that Italy is ready to assist Ukraine in the defence sector and in humanitarian activities.
