Minister Di Maio expressed to his British counterpart Liz Truss his feelings of deep sympathy for the death of British citizen Paul Urey, who died while detained in Ukraine in an area under Russian control, during the unjustified Russian aggression to Ukraine.
Italy supports UK’s request that the Russian Federation provides all necessary assistance in ascertain the causes of death and collaborates for the repatriation of the body to the family. Italy also hopes that the Russian Federation fulfills its obligations under international humanitarian law regarding the treatment of prisoners of war.
