Italy favourably welcomes the Tigray Regional Government’s willingness to comply with an immediate negotiated cease of hostilities and an African Union-led negotiation process. To this end, we urge the Ethiopian Government to consider this new opportunity for the good of the Ethiopian population and nation, and of the entire region.
It is in this spirit and in close coordination with its international partners and the European Union that Italy reaffirms its support to the African Union and to any negotiation effort aimed at re-establishing peace, prosperity, stability, and progress in Ethiopia in a context of territorial unity and integrity.
