In the light of the progressive deterioration of the humanitarian conditions in Lebanon, the Italian Cooperation Service has assured an additional two emergency contributions worth a total of 1.75 million euros aimed at meeting the growing humanitarian needs of the Lebanese population. Of these, 1 million is earmarked to support the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in assisting the Lebanese society, especially providing medical and sanitation facilities and first aid services, while 750,000 euros will go to the World Health Organization (WHO) for the purchase and provision of the medicines necessary in the treatment of patients with cancer and serious diseases. These contributions aim to constitute a renewed and tangible testimony of Italy’s closeness to Lebanon’s most vulnerable population segments in these times of growing hardship.
