Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, attended the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Central European Initiative (CEI) under the Bulgarian rotating presidency. The focus of the discussion was the region’s support to Ukraine and the contribution of the Central European Initiative, the oldest and best structured regional organization operating in Central and Southeast Europe, in dealing with the aftermath of the war and the EU enlargement process. Undersecretary Tripodi reiterated Italy’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people and condemnation of the Russian aggression and recent shameful attacks against civilians, urban areas and critical infrastructure. Italy rejects Russia’s false accusations about Kiev’s possible use of a dirty bomb and strongly supports the sanctions that are severely affecting the Russian economy and weakening its military, industrial and technological capabilities.
