The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation continues to send aid to the areas in Turkey and Syria struck by the earthquake on 6 February. A new load of humanitarian aid is now leaving Pisa airport and will land in the next few hours in Beirut to be transferred by land to Syria. The aid includes four ambulances and 14 doctors, as well as drugs and medical supplies, offered by the San Donato group, which will be sent to the Syrian Red Crescent to assist the population in Syria.

The Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, also arranged for new teams from the Italian Embassy in Ankara and the Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to be sent to the areas affected by the emergency.

In the past few hours, a first team from the Embassy has been sent to Kahramanmaraş to assist the search for Italian citizen Angelo Zen, while a second team is on its way to Antioch to work with the Italian Civil Protection Department, also to assist the Italian-Syrian family whose remains were found today. A special flight, set up thanks to the Civil Protection Department, also arrived in Turkey this morning with a team consisting of Crisis Unit, Carabinieri and Scientific Police officers to carry out further searches in Kahramanmaraş.
