Mission to Paris of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Edmondo Cirielli (19-20 June)

The mission to Paris of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Edmondo Cirielli, is currently underway to take part – with the government delegation led by the Minister of Defence, Hon. Guido Crosetto – in the opening of the Paris Air Show Le Bourget and for bilateral meetings with representatives of the international organisations accredited in Paris and of the French government.

On Monday, welcomed by Ambassador Emanuela D’Alessandro, the Italian government delegation attended the Air Show’s opening ceremony, inaugurated by President Macron, and later visited the pavilions of the Italian Companies and Organisations present at the Air Show. The 54th edition of the Paris Air Show, scheduled to take place until 25 June, is the most important event that brings together, every two years, the world’s leading industries in the aerospace sector. For companies and territories characterised, like Italy, by a strong aerospace specialisation, it is a great opportunity to make their skills and products known to professionals, as well as to promote the inclusion of the big players’ subcontractors in the supply chains.

On Tuesday, Deputy Minister Cirielli will meet Josef Aschbacher, President of the European Space Agency, of which Italy is the third largest contributor, to further enhance our country’s participation in the Agency’s programmes. Deputy Minister Cirielli will later hold talks with OECD Deputy Secretary-General, the Italian Fabrizia Lapecorella, with responsibility for Tax Policy, Administration and the Environment, to address specific cooperation dossiers with the Organisation in these sectors, and with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann.

Deputy Minister Cirielli will finally meet – at the Quai d’Orsay – the Secretary of State with responsibility for Development, Crysoula Zacharopoulou, to discuss – as envisaged in the Quirinale Treaty – the promotion of forms of collaboration and joint programmes in the field of development cooperation in areas of specific mutual interest, such as the Sahel.
