The Undersecretary Maria Tripodi co-chairs the 8th joint Economic Committee with Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam

The Undersecretary Maria Tripodi and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, co-chaired the 8th Joint Economic Committee at the presence of ministerial authorities and the representatives of the private sector.

This year’s edition occurs in a very positive phase that sees a growing collaboration with Vietnam, key partner in the Indo-Pacific area and in the ASEAN. In this year falls the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the Italian-Vietnamese strategic partnership.

During the committee’s works, the countries reaffirmed their commitment in strengthening the already excellent relations between the two countries, also in light of the successful official visit of the Vietnamese President, Vo Van Thuong, to Italy in July.

Particular focus was placed on sectors of common interest such as: trade and investments, industry, energy, environment, infrastructure, health, science and technology, culture and tourism.

Undersecretary Tripodi and the Deputy Minister Tan have agreed on meeting next year in Hanoi to hold the 9th edition of the Joint Economic Committee.

A short bilateral discussion, during which the parties expressed the willingness to promote Rome’s candidacy for EXPO2030, preceded the meeting.
