Mission of the Italian Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi to Kuwait – final meetings and visit to the Italian contingent

Italy’s Undersecretary of State to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, today concluded her mission to Kuwait with a series of meetings and a visit to the Al Salem base where the Italian National Contingent Command Air is stationed.

Accompanied by Ambassador Carlo Baldocci, Undersecretary Tripodi held talks with the Secretary General for the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, Mohammad Al-Jassar, to discuss furthering cultural relations between the two countries and increasing the diffusion of the Italian language through a project presented by the Dante Alighieri society. They also confirmed their shared desire to expand cooperation with the Italian archaeological missions in Kuwait, which are supported by the Italian Foreign Ministry in cooperation with the University of Perugia and the Sapienza University of Rome.

The Undersecretary then met with her counterpart for Information Nasser Al-Mehesen, to whom she presented Rome’s candidacy for Expo 2030 before visiting the Italian contingent at the Al Salem base. Extending the government’s greetings, Tripodi praised Commander Tommaso Tuccillo and the approximately 600 Italian military personnel deployed in Kuwait for their exceptional daily contribution to the activities of the “Global Coalition against Daesh” for the stabilisation of a region which is strategic for the world’s geopolitical balance.
