Undersecretary Maria Tripodi and Anna Luehrmann, German Minister of State for Europe and Climate, opened the third edition of the “German-Italian Young Leaders Dialogue – Spinelli Forum”. The initiative, conducted jointly by the Italian and German Ministries of Foreign Affairs with the support of the think-tanks “Institut für Europäische Politik” (IEP) and THE Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI), seeks to create a forum for dialogue for young Italian and German “leaders”.
In her speech, the Undersecretary stressed that in this delicate international time, it is imperative for the EU and its Member States to demonstrate foresight, cohesion and pragmatism. “The challenges we face are many”, Tripodi said, referring to the crisis in Gaza and Ukraine, to migration and energy transition. “In the face of such daunting challenges, Germany and Italy know that they need a more structured dialogue, involving the multiple parties such as the government, the private sector and civil society”, Tripodi stressed.
Alongside the Forum, Tripodi had a fruitful meeting with Minister Luerhmann, focusing on the cooperation between the two countries in the political and economic spheres and the priorities of the Italian Presidency of the G7.
