During the fourth 2023 meeting of the Disputed Minors Task Force, chaired by the Directorate General for Italian Citizens Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and attended as usual by officials from the Ministries of the Interior and Justice, new worrying trends in international child abduction were recorded. To date, 541 cases have in fact been handled and numbers are still rising, especially in countries on the southern shores of the Mediterranean, which present particularly complex aspects.
We continue to work tirelessly alongside the Ministry of Justice and the Interior to address these developments, including by making proposals to introduce new possible methods of intervention.
