The Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, participated in the first National Made in Italy Day in Montevideo, meeting at the Embassy with representatives of the Italian community, local authorities, and over 200 delegates of the Italian-Latin American SMEs taking part in the Pymes Forum.
While addressing the audience, Undersecretary Tripodi reiterated the centrality – for the Italian government – of growth diplomacy, the pivot of the strategy indicated by Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani to promote Italy’s SMEs operating abroad.
She said: “Made in Italy is our business card in the world. It is part of our history and our entrepreneurial culture, marked by excellence in every field, ranging from fashion to design, from agribusiness to manufacturing. When people think of Italy, they inevitably think of high quality. It is with this spirit that the Italian government has sought to enhance our Made in Italy, with a specific training pathway through the establishment of the Made in Italy High School and the framework law of the same name that identifies 15 April as the National Know-How Day. It is therefore a joy to be here in Montevideo and celebrate it with you. Today we are laying the foundations for ever closer collaboration between the Italian government and the economic actors that make know-how stand out and excel in Latin America. We have the task of opening, together, a new page of ongoing presence and concrete dialogue.
