Undersecretary Maria Tripodi opened at the Circolo del Ministero degli Affari Esteri the Programme dedicated to business leaders from Latin America, an initiative aimed at attracting investment to Italy and promoting economic cooperation with countries on the continent. The event, organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Trade Agency – ICE, was attended by representatives from Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, the Italian Revenue Agency, the Italian State Property Agency, and SACE. Welcoming the business delegation, Undersecretary Tripodi expressed her satisfaction at seeing such a large presence of Latin American businesses, many of them of Italian origin: evidence of the fraternal relationship that unites Italy and Latin America and of the interest that Sistema Italia generates in major international investors. “The new global geopolitical framework makes Latin America an increasingly important partner for Italy and Europe, in the face of the need to redesign resilient value chains in sectors of strategic importance. And we intend to do so with countries with which we already share a particularly broad framework of economic cooperation, which is based on important mutual investments and intense trade relations”, said the Undersecretary, pointing out that the interchange between Italy and Latin American countries will amount to some EUR 33 billion in 2022. “However, the potential for collaboration between Italy and Latin America still presents ample room for growth. This is a propitious moment to move from words to deeds”, she added. Tripodi then emphasised that it is a precise priority for the government and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work to create the best possible conditions to attract entrepreneurial forces wishing to invest in our country, following the indications of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, for a diplomacy of growth at the service of the country.
