The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Edmondo Cirielli, today received a delegation from the Moldovan Parliament for a discussion that reaffirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations and took place just a few weeks after President Mattarella’s official visit to Chişinău, the first by an Italian Head of State to Moldova.
Deputy Minister Cirielli said: “Moldova is a friendly country with which we share solid cultural roots, also thanks to the presence of a community of around 300,000 Moldovan citizens living in Italy.” He stressed that Italy strongly supports Moldova’s efforts to join the European Union.
The Deputy Minister discussed with his counterparts the prospects for further strengthening bilateral cooperation and reviewed some of the main issues of common interest at regional and international levels.
