The Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Giorgio Silli, took part today in the “International Conference on Support for the People and Sovereignty of Lebanon” in Paris.
Highlighting Italy’s significant contribution in response to the crisis, as demonstrated by the Middle East Humanitarian Conference convened by Minister Tajani during the G7 Development Ministers’ Meeting in Pescara, which for the first time brought together representatives from Lebanon, Palestine, and Israel, Undersecretary Silli recalled that Italy had promptly allocated EUR 17 million in recent weeks for initiatives in support of the Lebanese population and refugees living in Lebanon. He also mentioned Minister Tajani’s announcement in Pescara of an additional EUR 10 million package.
Furthermore, Undersecretary Silli reaffirmed Italy’s strong commitment to Lebanon’s stability and security, through support for the Lebanese Armed Forces within the framework of the bilateral MIBIL training mission and participation in the UNIFIL mission, in which Italy is one of the main contributors.
