Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, has been kept informed throughout the day about the latest developments in the situation in Syria, which he continues to monitor, including diplomatic initiatives and ongoing meetings in the region.
The continuation of fighting in various areas of the country and the advance of militia groups in regions already under the control of government forces make it increasingly difficult for foreign nationals, including Italians, to move, particularly those wishing to leave Syria.
The Italian Embassy in Damascus continues to maintain contact with Italian nationals, NGOs present in the area, and United Nations agencies.
