Italian citizen stopped in Iraq has already left the country

In recent days, an Italian citizen was stopped in Iraq in the Syed Ghraib area for a check by the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF). The check arose from a misunderstanding and was quickly resolved, also thanks to the assistance of the Italian Embassy in Iraq. At present, the Italian national has already left the country.
As stated on the “Viaggiare Sicuri” website, travel to Iraq is strongly discouraged for any reason. Before undertaking any trip abroad, it is recommended to consult the Viaggiare Sicuri website and, once travelling, to download the “Viaggiare Sicuri” app.
