“Food for Gaza” meeting begins with Ministers Tajani and Bernini

The coordination meeting for the “Food for Gaza” operation has commenced at the Farnesina, convened by Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani following his mission on Monday to Israel and Palestine. Minister of Universities and Research Annamaria Bernini is participating, primarily due to the involvement of university medical centres in the operation. All ministry officials involved in the operation, coordinated by Ambassador Bruno Archi, Italy’s representative to the FAO, are present. Contributions have already begun from Maurizio Martina, Deputy Director-General of the FAO; Roberta Fusacchia, Director of International Cooperation and Relations of the Italian Red Cross; and Dominik Heinrich, Director of Innovation, Change and Knowledge Management at the United Nations World Food Programme. Speakers have also included Alberto Cirio, President of the Piedmont Region; Stefano Lo Russo, Mayor of Turin, representing ANCI; and Luca Rizzo Nervo, Deputy Mayor of Emilia-Romagna, representing the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces.
