The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, inaugurated today at the Farnesina the Italy-Africa Business Week (IABW), a significant platform for economic dialogue with the African continent now in its eighth edition. Deputy Minister Cirielli was joined in opening the event by the Senegalese Minister of Microfinance and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Alioune Dione, and the Deputy Director General of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Ugochi Daniels.
“The prosperity and stability of Africa are priorities for Italy”, the Deputy Minister began in his address, “and the IABW is a testament to this commitment. For eight years, it has created new opportunities for growth across Africa in an innovative way, by enhancing the essential contributions of African diasporas in Italy and fostering collaboration between institutions, businesses, and civil society to forge lasting and mutually beneficial ties between our countries. Africa is a young and dynamic continent, rich in human capital, resources, and opportunities for its people and for those who, like Italy, choose to invest in partnerships rooted in respect and mutual interest. In this context, our approach focuses on a clear strategy: to enhance local resources with the aim of stimulating sustainable and inclusive growth”, emphasised the Deputy Minister.
The Italy-Africa Business Week is organised by the Le Réseau Association in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). The forum provides a concrete opportunity to foster dialogue among businesses, institutions, and civil society. The theme of the 2025 edition, “Adapt, Thrive and Expand: Turning Challenges into Opportunities”, highlights the importance of finding innovative and flexible solutions to address today’s global challenges.
