Minister Tajani visits Palestinian children at Regina Margherita Hospital in Turin

During his visit to Turin for the inauguration of the academic year at the Polytechnic University, Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani paid a visit to four Palestinian children currently receiving treatment at Regina Margherita Hospital, thanks to the support of the Piedmont Region.

The young patients, accompanied by their families, arrived in Italy on 13 February as part of a group of fourteen children with oncological conditions who were evacuated from Gaza via the Rafah crossing and transported to Egypt. This operation was made possible through cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, and the Civil Protection Department.

During his visit, Tajani discussed with Piedmont’s President Alberto Cirio and other officials the possibility of extending medical care for Palestinian children to other urgent healthcare areas, including prosthetic treatments.

This initiative is part of the broader “Food for Gaza” programme, through which Italy has been at the forefront of humanitarian efforts since the early stages of the Middle East crisis.
