Deputy Minister Cirielli received Romanian Secretary of State Staicu at the Foreign Ministry

Today the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Edmondo Cirielli, received at the Foreign Ministry the Secretary of State for European Affairs of Romania, Clara Staicu, for a discussion that reaffirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations, relaunched by the Intergovernmental Summit held in Rome on 15 February 2024. 

The Deputy Minister discussed with his counterpart the prospects for further strengthening bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed the common commitment to support Ukraine and the EU enlargement process. Great attention was paid to the most sensitive dossiers relating to the Union’s Eastern Neighbourhood, such as tensions in the Western Balkans, security in the Black Sea, relations with Georgia and the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. 

“Romania is a friendly country and a first-rate partner, with whom it is important to promote a further intensification of political dialogue”, Cirielli said, expressing satisfaction with the outcomes of the meeting, which also focused on cultural and consular relations.
