The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, is in Brussels for a series of institutional meetings on the occasion of the extraordinary European Council dedicated to support for Ukraine and European defence.

During his visit, Minister Tajani will meet with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, as well as the Commissioners for Trade and Economic Security, Maroš Šefčovič, and for Defence, Andrius Kubilius. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will also take part in the EPP Summit ahead of the European Council, where he will meet with key political leaders, including the President of the Spanish People’s Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

Throughout the meetings, Tajani will emphasise the importance of maintaining maximum unity among EU member states at a crucial moment for the future of Europe. The discussions will focus on European security—particularly in light of the new defence support plan announced by the European Commission—transatlantic relations, and European competitiveness.

Minister Tajani will reaffirm Italy’s full support for Kyiv in achieving a just peace, also updating his counterparts on the outcomes of today’s meeting in Milan, which focused on the involvement of the private sector in preparation for the Ukraine Recovery Conference in July.
