The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, opened today at the Foreign Ministry, together with the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, the event “Nurturing International Talents: Scholarships of the Italian System”.
The initiative underlined the centrality of the university sector, as its internationalization is a priority of the Government to promote territories’ growth and development , also through the attraction of innovative investment from abroad. In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is endeavouring to increase the number of scholarships to be awarded to young foreigners, paying particular attention to Africa.
The promotion of the Italian system is at the centre of the growth diplomacy strategy, also considering the new reform project of the Ministry aimed at further promoting cultural diplomacy and making the Foreign Ministry ever closer to citizens’ and companies’ needs.
The event also focused on the fight against abuses in accessing regional scholarships, in collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza (Inland Revenue Police), as well as on the collaboration between the Foreign Ministry (MAECI) and the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) for pre-registration procedures, entry into Italy and enrolment of foreign students.
The event was also attended by the General Commander of the Guardia di Finanza, Andrea De Gennaro, the President of the National Association of Bodies for the Right to University Education, Emilio Di Marzio and two former MAECI and MUR scholarship holders, Emma Smailbegovic and Halili Ernest.
