The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, has presented an Action Plan for the acceleration of exports to high-potential non-EU markets to associations representing the Italian production sector.

The Government is committed to working alongside our businesses to support their exports and internationalisation through a coordinated set of measures. The Action Plan is a new, concrete tool that will be implemented through a teamwork approach by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the agencies of the ‘Sistema Italia’ to facilitate dialogue between Italian companies, local operators, and foreign counterparts, while fostering economic cooperation and enhancing commercial opportunities, commented Tajani.

In 2024, Italian exports achieved particularly significant results in non-EU markets: €17.6 billion in Turkey (+23.9% compared to the previous year), €7.9 billion in the UAE (+19.4%), €6.6 billion in Mexico (+7.4%), €5.8 billion in Brazil (+8.1%), €6.2 billion in Saudi Arabia (+27.9%), €5.2 billion in India (+1%). Among the key priorities are also African countries, which collectively totalled over €20 billion in exports; ASEAN markets, with €10.7 billion in exports and a 10.3% increase; and the Western Balkans, with €6.5 billion and +13.4% growth.

The Action Plan for Italian Exports includes several measures such as: institutional and business delegations abroad, strengthening trade fair activities, financial support for exports, agreements with international distribution chains and digital platforms, opening of new overseas offices by export hub agencies in strategic markets.

The event is attended by senior representatives from ITA, CDP, SACE, Simest, and leading trade associations from the Italian production sector. On this occasion, a model guide on “growth diplomacy” will also be presented. Italian Embassies in the target countries of the Action Plan are working on this guide to provide concrete and specialised information to businesses interested in expanding their activities in these markets.
