Today at the Farnesina, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation received Louis Bono, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the United States Department of State.
The meeting, held in a spirit of cordiality also owing to their shared Italian heritage and coinciding with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s visit to Washington D.C., provided an important opportunity to exchange views on shared challenges and values, reaffirming the strength of the transatlantic relationship and the mutual commitments within the framework of the Atlantic Alliance.
A significant part of the discussion focused on the regional situation in the Caucasus, particularly concerning the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Both parties agreed on the need to support and facilitate the establishment of a lasting peace, also in light of the region’s strategic importance for connectivity between Europe and Asia.
