Following his mission to New Delhi, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will be in Osaka tomorrow, Sunday, to take part in the inauguration ceremony of the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2025.
On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister will present the “Asia-Pacific Focus” of the Export Action Plan and will also participate in the unveiling ceremony of the Olympic and Paralympic torches for the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
The Italian Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 represents a prestigious international showcase for promoting Italian economic system and the Made in Italy brand. “Our country’s presence at Expo Osaka 2025 is an important opportunity to boost the internationalisation of Italian businesses, support export growth, attract strategic investments, and strengthen the global presence of Made in Italy,” stated the Minister.
In Japan, Minister Tajani will present the “Asia-Pacific Focus” of the Italian Export Action Plan for high-potential non-EU markets, together with the leadership of Confindustria, Confartigianato, Confcommercio, and Altagamma, along with representatives from the business community and from Italian Trade Agency, Confindustria, SACE, and SIMEST. “We must further strengthen our ties with Japan, a strategic partner for Italy. Trade between Rome and Tokyo exceeded €12 billion in 2024, and we aim to increase it by promoting our companies in the Asia-Pacific region and diversifying the export market destinations”, Tajani said.
The programme will also include an event, organised in collaboration with ITA and RCS, dedicated to sports diplomacy through the Giro d’Italia, featuring, among others, cycling champion Vincenzo Nibali.
Finally, Minister Tajani will visit the frigate Antonio Marceglia, a symbol of Italy’s commitment to enhancing its presence in the Indo-Pacific, and will take part in the unveiling ceremony of the Olympic and Paralympic torches for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
