Italy re-elected to Category I of the Executive Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization – ICAO

The Italian Foreign Ministry expresses its deep satisfaction at Italy’s re-election to Category I of the Executive Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the 2026–2028 triennium, which took place today in Montreal during the proceedings of the 42nd ICAO Assembly. ICAO is a United Nations agency and the main international body responsible for promoting the development and safety of air transport.

Italy’s re-election, as a continuous member of the Council since ICAO’s establishment, confirms the prestige that the international community accords to our country in this sensitive sector and highlights Italy’s specific contribution to the sustainable development and safety of civil aviation.

Italy was re-elected, with very broad support, among the European candidate countries, alongside France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
