The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Giorgio Silli, spoke today in Parliament in response to an urgent interpellation submitted by Hon. Bonelli regarding economic and military cooperation with Israel.
Undersecretary Silli reiterated the positions already expressed by Minister Tajani, stating that the Italian Government continues to work tirelessly for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, for the immediate release of hostages, and for full access to humanitarian aid. He emphasised Italy’s commitment to diplomacy and dialogue, while discouraging any initiatives that could hinder open channels of communication.
Furthermore, Undersecretary Silli condemned the events that took place yesterday in Parliament, which he deemed offensive to the institutional role of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He stressed the importance of upholding the dignity of parliamentary and democratic institutions under all circumstances.
