After many hours, the consular visit by the Embassy of Italy in Israel to the Italian citizens detained on the Flotilla came to an end. The consular team could meet with all those detained, who were well despite being exhausted from a month at sea and two days of intense stress coinciding with the military operation against the boats.
The consular team reported that prison conditions were particularly uncomfortable. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has therefore instructed the Embassy to ask the Israeli Foreign Ministry to check and improve the detention conditions. The Embassy of Italy is also working to speed up the expulsion procedures, which will be particularly quick for the compatriots who have decided to sign the expulsion order proposed by the Israeli authorities.
