The fifth meeting of the Tariffs Task Force, established at the Italian Foreign Ministry last July on the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, was held yesterday. The Task Force was created to assist Italian businesses during the current complex phase of transatlantic trade transition.
The meeting focused on the latest developments concerning measures adopted by the United States administration in the trade sector. As in previous meetings, participating companies highlighted the key challenges faced by the Italian industrial sector due to US tariffs.
The Task Force also recalled the key points of the agreement reached between the United States and the European Union, and reaffirmed the Italian Government’s commitment to mitigating the impact on the most exposed Italian sectors, including through ongoing dialogue with the European Commission, which continues discussions with US counterparts.
Finally, the Task Force agreed that the next meeting would include a briefing on the ongoing, advanced-stage negotiations for a free trade agreement with India.
