Undersecretary Tripodi participated in the 4th CELAC-EU Summit in Santa Marta

The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, represented Italy at the 4th CELAC-EU Summit in Santa Marta, Colombia. The Summit confirms Italy’s and the EU’s growing focus on the Euro-Latin American partnership, which involves over a third of United Nations Member States. At the heart of the agenda were the strengthening of the rules-based international order, the triple climate, energy, and environmental transition, the promotion of trade and investment, and the fight against organized crime.

In her remarks, Undersecretary Tripodi emphasized: “Recent progress in EU agreements with Latin American partners confirms the potential for stronger economic ties. In times of uncertainty, we need to strengthen our interconnections, diversify markets, and cooperate with even greater determination to face common challenges.”

She concluded: “Our objective is clear, i.e. to build together a partnership based on trust, reciprocity, and shared prosperity.”

On today’s final day of the Summit, a Joint Political Declaration and two Declarations on Citizens’ Security and Social Protection will be adopted.
