First group of Italians stranded in Socotra departs. Italian Foreign Ministry continues efforts to arrange additional flights

Assistance for Italian nationals still stranded on the Yemeni island of Socotra continues. A first repatriation flight is scheduled to arrive today in Jeddah, carrying 46 Italian citizens. 59 tourists remain on the island and are expected to return on further flights planned over the coming days.

Thanks to the intervention of the Italian Embassy in Riyadh, in close coordination with Italian Foreign Ministry, contacts are ongoing with Yemeni authorities and the airline operating the route to facilitate the transit of Italian tourists.

Italian nationals will also be granted a four-day transit visa in Saudi Arabia to ensure repatriation procedures proceed as smoothly as possible.
